At JDO Academy, we believe that becoming a Make-up Artist goes far
beyond simply learning how to apply make-up. It is about learning how
to observe, analyse and create developing a professional eye for
beauty, balance and detail.
The JDO Make-up Artist Method is developed from more than 25 years
of experience in the international beauty and fashion industry.
Everything you learn during this program is based on techniques and
workflows that are actually used on editorial shoots, campaigns,
backstage at fashion shows and in the professional beauty industry.
The program follows a clear structure. You begin with the fundamentals
of the profession: skin preparation, product knowledge, facial analysis
and the basics of shape, shadow and balance. From there, we gradually
build towards more advanced techniques and creative looks.
You will not only learn how to perform a technique, but also why you do
it. This allows you to develop a deeper understanding of the face and
make confident decisions as a professional Make-up Artist.
During the program we also focus on:
• working with different skin types and skin tones
• understanding face shapes and corrective techniques
• creating both commercial and fashion looks
• developing your own artistic signature
Within the JDO Method, the focus is not only on technique but also on
practical experience. During the training you work on real models and
learn how to collaborate professionally within a creative team.
The program concludes with a professional photoshoot, where you apply
the techniques you have learned in a realistic shoot environment. You
work together with a photographer and a creative team, just as it
happens in the professional industry.
For many students, this is a special moment: you see your work come to
life on camera and leave with professional images for your portfolio.
After completing the program, you will not only have learned new skills,
but also gained confidence, practical experience and a strong foundation

How do I arrange my own models?
- Immediate surroundings: we recommend asking your immediate
surroundings first, think family, friends or neighbors. Perhaps they
know someone who would also like to model for you. - Social media post: of course you can also use your own social media
by sharing a post with a call. What can help in this is to tag
@jdo-academy in your call so that we can also share it on our channel
(note: this is only possible if you have a public profile). - Call in Facebook groups: there are also groups on Facebook where you
can post calls that you are looking for a model to practice on. A fee
is often expected in these, but it is not necessary. Be clear in your
communication in this. - Addressing people: another perhaps more challenging option is to
simply approach people on the street or on the road, but we understand
that this can be a barrier.
